home land scouting

We were in Arlington, Washington, scouting a potential cabin to shoot a number of scenes for "Home Land" when out of the dark woods pops this gigantic tree, with a beam of light saying "come hug me." So I do. Here is the photo.

A Spring day

It was the first day for a small , cold dip in the pond, the fish were jumping and I waded out to get the hook and bobber that Eski and I had lost in the pond yesterday afternoon. We are really bad at fishing and I think the trout are happy about that.

Pressure washing done

After many weeks of getting wet and one day of falling off the ladder I finish pressure washing the house and garden trellis and fences. There is a lot of surface area on this house.

Are so much fun! We shoot cattails down by the pond and pine cones off of trees

Snow again

On Lopez this very cold morning it let loose with a sprinkle of flakes that became ice and then slush. I woke early, the sky was blue, alot going on with Laurie getting ready for another trip to Nz and me getting ready to shoot a film in Seattle.

Seattle Public Library

Two photos of the library where I spent some time looking at books. Lucky for me I meet my friend Janis, from Lopez on the ferry boat and she lent me her coveted library card. The second photo is of an installation work at the library that you see coming down the escalator to the ground floor, or is that level 3? My suggestion is that when at this Library suspend your need to know where you are or what level you are on as they all seem to coexist in one place at the same time, a unique sensation of chaos in amongst the Dewy Decimal system that thrives on order.
Rem Koolhaas is the genius in charge of this building.

Spring sprung

Well the plum tree did what it always does in the spring. Thank goodness I had nothing to do with it, nature does it best.

I woke up

In this field after having pulled off the freeway late at night and driven down the road past the truck stop a way, I wanted to sleep in the quiet and not hear the hum of diesel trucks. In the crisp morning breath of waking up I discovered this tree and gully next to my sleeping spot. And a vineyard. I get back in a drive north all day, stopping in Shasta for lunch and reaching PDX by late evening. I have a really nice talk with Kirsten and then fall asleep to wake up early as I have things to do in Seattle tomorrow.

Proof that I speed

Here it is, in the dark night of I-5 North in SOCAL. I left LA at sunset and drove for hours. Lucky for me the sun goes down and I don't have to see the, to me, most boring part of California. My itues is on paryt shuffle until the battery goes out and NPR starts to repaeat itself.

Diego's Bday

Diego has his birthday party the night I get to LA. It was at a vegetarian Ethiopian restaurant on Fairfax Ave. Good food nice to meet new people and an evening celebrating a good man.

Mount Bakers Glory

It was cool, cold, sunny, and a ton of fun. Laurie couldn't come as she is away working but we had a lovely time shredding the slopes of Mount Baker.

Garden in progress

Much mulch was thrown in the air and on other people after Juniper showed up after school was out and then Eski came home too, and even more hay was thrown, and dogs were chased. Massive amounts of food will be grown this year in our enlarged plot!

PG&E Shoot

Squirrels and cats running around a house turning on appliances. That's the concept for the spot. The DP Rodrigo Preito gets nominated for anOscar the morning of our shoot so there is much excitement and congratulations , his mobile phone never seems to stop ringing. these are photos of my friend Diego.

Here is the clip of all the photos from my camera which was mounted on the dashboard for 3 days of driving, from Lopez Island, Wa. to Los Angeles, Ca. in 4:45 sec to the sounds of the Dandy Wahols, Eski's favorite tune.

driving south on I-5

Took the 11AM ferry to Anacortes, drove to Redmond to see my sister, Amy. She was busy as a "Snake on Easter" But it is always nice to see her. I continue South for hours and hours through rain, hail and all the other Friday evening drivers. 8PM I reach PDX and visit with an old art school friend Alison O'Donoghue and meet her 11 year old daughter.
