I find that the most lovely part of the valley and where there has been a grass fire the color contrasts are exquisite. Had a sandwich for dinner and some water.
This really is the beginning of the film for me because I am doing research on equipment and thinking all day as I drive about how to shoot and edit a on-the-road montage that is not cliche, hasn't been used a thousand times. We have all seen them, boring. No two road trips are the same.

that scene on the bumper i've described more than once. i have a friend who has a quick brAun electric water boiler. the fastest boil i ever saw. he puts some leaves in a beaker and gives them a quick rinse in some of the hot water and tosses out the water. he then pours out 12 oz for two six ounce cups into a beaker with a thermometer and waits till the temperature is right for the kind of tea he has. he then pours that water in with the leaves and brews that for the exact time required by the kind of tea. then he strains that into to glass tea cups made for 6oz of tea. we enjoy it right away. later he dumps the strained leaves into the tea beaker to brew again and we have three cups each like that.
